Name: Nandini Date of Birth: September 27th, 2007 Age: 9 years old Update: Nandini went through many transformation during the year that she has spent with us here on the farm. Her personality, of course, did not change, rather it was her adaptation to her new home and family that caused her to go through many stages until she reached the place where she is at today. Nandini has a timid nature, she is shy and quiet and keeps to herself. While many of our herd members are pushy and confident, Nandini is the opposite. Therefore, when she first arrived, the cows in our herd pushed her around, like they did to any other member of the herd, but since she did not have the character to fight back she often remained behind and kept to herself. We were so pleased to see how with time this changed. Although she continues to keep to herself, she is no longer afraid to eat alongside her herd mates or just hang around and relax in their company. Another amazing characteristic of hers is how she became everyone’s “aunty”. Nandini is so gentle in nature that immediately the calves can sense it. Any new calf we have, or have had, on the farm could be found hanging around Nandini. As they got a bit older and independent and their moms grow more relaxed, you could often find Nandini resting with their calves at one side of the pasture while their mothers eat at the other end of it.
